Water and Sanitation

The Disable Welfare Foundation (DWF) has implemented numerous projects to enhance access to safe drinking water in remote and underserved areas of Somalia. We have built water wells, installed water pumps, and set up water distribution systems, ensuring that communities have a sustainable water source. DWF has also prioritized the construction of sanitation facilities, such as latrines and toilets, in areas lacking proper sanitation infrastructure for people with disabilities. This helps to prevent the spread of diseases and promotes better hygiene practices within the communities.

  1. Recognizing the importance of education, DWF has conducted hygiene awareness campaigns to educate local communities about the significance of good hygiene practices. These campaigns include workshops, training sessions, and distributing educational materials to raise awareness and promote behavior change. We have actively involves local communities in their water and sanitation initiatives. By engaging community members, they ensure that the projects meet the specific needs of each area, fostering a sense of ownership and sustainability.
  2. DWF has also provided training programs for local technicians and volunteers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to maintain and manage water and sanitation systems. This empowers the communities to take charge of their own facilities in the long term. The Disable Welfare Foundation’s dedication to improving water and sanitation in Somalia has had a positive impact on the lives of many people, contributing to better health, hygiene, and overall well-being.
